AKIPRESS.COM – President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a series of reshuffles in the fuel and energy complex of the republic. Two deputy prime ministers were dismissed, including Shahym Abdrakhmanov, who was in charge of the oil and gas complex, and Charymurad Purchekov, who was in charge of the electric power industry, construction and industry, Fergana reports.
Ashirguly Begliev, who previously held the post of presidential adviser on oil and gas issues, became the new Deputy Prime Minister in charge of the oil and gas industry. The post of Deputy Prime Minister for Electricity, Construction and Industry was taken by Baimurad Annamamedov, who previously worked as the Minister of Industry and Construction Production.
The Neftegaz.ru publication considers the reshuffles in the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan to be “expected” and related to the problems that arose in January at the Galkynysh field, which led to a disruption in gas supplies to Uzbekistan. An audit by the Prosecutor General’s Office showed that, according to preliminary estimates, the damage amounted to $59.7 million only for six days of forced shutdown of gas supplies to Uzbekistan.
Six employees of Turkmengaz were previously arrested, including head of the Department of Material and Technical Resources and Equipment Shohrat Azhdarov and head of the Turkmentransgaz association Shokhrat Chopanov. Batyr Amanov, head of Turkmengaz, received a severe reprimand from Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
