The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, protesting against the words of Kamchibek Toshiev, head of the KDAM of Kyrgyzstan, invited the ambassador of this country to Dushanbe for a conversation .
On September 15, Kamchibek Toshiyev told Kyrgyz media that they have found new documents on dividing the border with Tajikistan, and if Dushanbe does not give up its claims, they will use these documents.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan said in a press release that on September 16 Erlan Abdildaev, the ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to this country, was invited to the ministry.
This institution said that they spoke to the ambassador “in connection with the statement of a high-ranking Kyrgyz government official regarding the border issues between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.”
“It was emphasized that such explanations can seriously damage the process of negotiations on the delimitation and demarcation of the state border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, as well as mutual trust,” said the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
Kamchibek Toshiyev said that “based on the new documents, we know that many lands of Kyrgyzstan have been transferred to Tajikistan.”
He, who is also the head of the Commission for demarcation of the border between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, did not mention any documents or specific border areas.
“Our neighbor, Tajikistan, claims territory on the border with Kyrgyzstan. We answered that these claims are groundless and should not be. We recently found new documents, and based on them we know that a lot of land from Kyrgyzstan has been transferred to Tajikistan. If Tajikistan rejects the claim “If the territory does not give up, we will also present the documents. We have enough strength and opportunities for this,” said the head of the Kyrgyz KDAM.
Toshiyev said without naming any specific border region, “we have the opportunity to return our lands that were transferred to Tajikistan tens or even hundreds of years ago.”
Nazirbek Borubaev, the special representative of the Kyrgyz government on border demarcation, said that special documents were taken from the archive. Borubaev also did not give details about them “in order not to create an obstacle to the course of negotiations”.
In the past, the Tajik authorities accused Kyrgyzstan of “taking” the lands of Tajikistan.
Sadiq Imami, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, showed some maps in a conversation with foreign diplomats living in Dushanbe last year and said: according to them, the Vorukh region was never an island or an enclave, “the road and the surrounding areas are the territory of Tajikistan.” “.
Since 2002, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have been discussing the demarcation and demarcation of the border, and during this period, 664 kilometers out of 972 kilometers have been determined.
Delegations from the two sides hold talks almost every month to clarify the 300 km border, but the results are not disclosed to the public.
The uncertainty of the border line has caused bloody conflicts to break out from time to time. The last deadly border conflict in September 2022 left dozens dead and hundreds injured on both sides.
