Abubakr Sherov, a Tajik wrestler, won a bronze medal at the World Championship among youth, which is taking place in the city of Odivelas, Portugal.
This 20-year-old Tajik wrestler defeated the American Ruslan Korotich in the first round, the Brazilian Gabriel Falcao in the second round, and the Hungarian Gergel Adorjani in the third round and reached the quarter-finals. However, Abu Bakr lost to Kazakh Almaty Adileti in the quarter-finals.
He defeated France’s Eliot Prevet in the consolation round and defeated Japan’s Keito Kihara in the bronze medal match.

Another Tajik wrestler, Muhiddin Asadulloev, in the weight category up to 73 kg, defeated Kyrgyz Abdullah Aliyev in the first round, Mexican Ricardo Guerra in the second round, but lost to American Jack Yonezuka in the third round.
Earlier, Fazliddin Sadriddinzoda failed in the first round against Mongolian Enkhtur Jugdergaravi in the weight category up to 66 kilograms.
According to the Tajikistan Skiing Federation, nine athletes are included in the youth team of the country, six more will enter the competition:

Young men in seven weights (-60 kg, -66 kg, -73 kg, -81 kg, -90 kg, -100 kg and +100 kg) and girls also in seven weights (-48 kg, -52 kg, -57 kg, -63 kg, -70 kg, -78 kg and +78 kg) compete.
Winners and prize-winners of the world championship among young people in Portugal will be honored with medals along with financial prizes, and they will also be given a privilege in the junior ranking.
We remind you that Nurali Emomali, a Tajik wrestler, was awarded a gold medal in the 66-kilogram weight class at the World Youth Championship held last year in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
By the way, this was the second gold medal of the world championship among young people in the history of Tajik wrestling. Somon Mahmadbekov won the first gold medal in weight up to 73 kg in October 2019 at the world championship in Morocco.
