The President of Tajikistan said that against the background of new global threats and dangers, the “independence, freedom and stability of various countries of the world” have become vulnerable.
Emomali Rahmon, who made this point on November 6 in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Tajikistan, called the constitution of Tajikistan “a provider of peace and tranquility, political stability, protection of state sovereignty and national unity.”
He did not mention any country or hot spot in the world, but it is likely that he is referring to the war on the territory of Ukraine, which Russia started without any excuse in February 2022, and its army occupied territories. Most of the international community condemns this war.
According to analysts, the ongoing war in a former Soviet republic of Ukraine, which was raised to protect its independence and territorial integrity, has become a matter of serious concern for many countries, including Tajikistan, although the authorities in this country have never openly and directly expressed their critical views on they did not say about it.
In his congratulatory message on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Tajikistan, Rahmon also added that this country “pursues a peaceful policy and respects the independence and sovereignty of other countries.”
The Constitution or Basic Law of Tajikistan was adopted on November 6, 1994 and amended three times; each time, international organizations have called the constitutional change referendum “non-transparent”.
Based on the changes, Emomali Rahmon got the unlimited right to be a candidate in the presidential elections, and the activity of the religious party was banned in Tajikistan.
