The remains of the body of Sumaya Ibrahimova, a 39-year-old resident of Faizabad district, were found and buried after more than seven months.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan reported that he was killed, but it is not known why it took so long to find the body and the suspect. Two weeks ago, Radio Ozodi reported on the disappearance of Sumaya and the insufficient efforts of the authorities to find her .
How and where was Sumaya found?
According to her relatives, Sumaya Ibrahimova mysteriously disappeared on April 24 of this year. Now, in connection with his death, Ahmadjon Vaisiddinzoda, a resident of Faizabad district, has been arrested.
Soifa Yusufova, mother of Sumaya Ibrahimova, believes that the suspect killed her daughter “by deception” and probably “for 30 thousand somoni”. “My daughter borrowed this amount of money to buy a house. My daughter’s phone was also found in the hands of this man. They identified him by the phone,” said Soifa Yusufova.
Sumaya’s body was found on November 25 and buried on November 29 in a cemetery in Faizabad district. “There were broken bones. My son collected all of them together with representatives of the authorities,” Mrs. Yusufova added.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan reported on November 27 that Sumaya’s body was found in a cave in the field of Sitora village of Faizobod district. Nusratullo Mahmadzoda, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, told Radio Ozodi that the body was examined and identified, and his relatives were invited for identification.
Talabsho Akhmadov, Sumaya Ibrahimova’s brother, told Radio Ozodi that “a diagnosis was made. We recognized her shirts, we had her photos. She went to the same shirt the same day she left. We found the place of the body, the shirt belonged to her.”
The officials of the Department of Internal Affairs of Faizabad said earlier that they were seriously looking for Sumaya from the first day of her disappearance, but her mother was not very happy with their work. On November 14, Radio Ozodi reported on Sumaya’s disappearance and her family’s concern about her unknown fate. “It was because of your influence that the matter came to this point. All the authorities stood up. All the authorities started searching,” said Sumaya’s mother.
Who is the accused?
39-year-old Ahmadjon Vaisiddinzoda, accused of killing and robbing Sumaya Ibrahimova, told in a video of the Ministry of Internal Affairs that he tricked the woman into the field, “drank wine together” and strangled her after she fell asleep. It is not known under what conditions the video was recorded.
The accused’s father told Radio Ozodi that his son does not drink alcohol. Sumaya Ibrahimova’s mother also denied her daughter drinking alcohol. “He was a prayer leader. The slander is against my daughter. He was deceived by saying that he will give you your money. The house seems to be half-built. The last time he came to him to take 30,000 somoni and he deceived my daughter,” he said.
Tajiddin Izomiddinov, the accused’s father, is in a state of confusion because of this incident: “Our hearts were full that there was nothing wrong with us. From the day we found out about this incident, we cannot eat, sleep or go out among people. If he is involved in this matter, he will answer to the whole law.”
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ahmadjon Vaisiddinzoda was previously punished for refusing to serve in the Tajik army and drug trafficking in Russia. His father confirmed his punishment in Russia, but did not say anything about his refusal to serve in the military.
Ahmadjon Vaisiddinzoda has three children, is unemployed and divorced from his wife.
Sumaya Ibrahimova is the mother of three minor children, and now they are being raised by their paternal grandmother. His wife is working in Russia.
Earlier, Sumaya’s mother said that her daughter “lately does not understand each other with her husband” and wants to divorce him. Sumaya Ibrahimova worked in a sewing factory until she disappeared.
The news of the disappearance of some residents, including teenagers and minors, is reported in the media from time to time, but general statistics are not available. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, only in nine months of 2020, 709 people went missing. It is not clear how many of them were found and how many were missing.
