Alyaksandr Lukashenka demanded from the security bloc to take under strict control not only the security of the outside, but also inside the country. The President of Belarus analyzed the work of the entire system – the military, the KGB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He drew attention to problematic issues and told the details of the counter-terrorist operation in Grodno, MIR 24 correspondent Polina Sribnenko reports.
“We leave the apartment, we say it again!”
In response, an automatic burst and a grenade. The security forces opened fire. The suspect was wounded.
“He was given first aid. It was decided to evacuate the suspect to the nearest medical facility. On the way to the hospital, the offender died,” said a fighter of the special forces group “A” of the KGB of Belarus.
After a search in a rented apartment, they found weapons and ammunition, as well as a fake Russian passport. The man attracted the attention of special services shortly before the operation. According to the KGB, he carried out reconnaissance of the places where he planned the attacks. This is the building of law enforcement agencies, the Grodno railway station and industrial facilities. He kept photos of officials and the geolocation of their residence on his phone. The President called the prevention of the tragedy a brilliant job.
“A whole arsenal of weapons and explosives was confiscated, intended for high-profile terrorist attacks against citizens, government officials. Well done to our guys: in such an acute situation, not a single soldier of the Alpha group died. Good operation, good job. As I often say, people who went and risked their lives should always be seen and supported,” the president said.
But behind the large-scale tasks, one should not forget about the routine work of the authorities, Lukashenka stressed. Fraudsters have become more active in the country, the number of deceived pensioners has increased five times.
“We need to protect these people. Children and pensioners should understand that the state will always support them and protect them,” Lukashenka stressed.
Restless on the roads. As an example, a resonant accident involving a fixed-route taxi and a heavy truck. More than 10 people died, including two children. And this is a combination of many circumstances. The truck did not have a technical inspection; instead of 15, there were 19 passengers in the minibus. And the children ended up in it because the school bus broke down.
“Forgotten, complacency. Moved away from the fact that there are no trifles. We have just checked, in this division more than 100 trucks drive without technical inspection. And each of them is a danger on the road. This is just one company. And on a national scale, a total check is now underway,” said the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Shved.
In general, crime statistics in Belarus have not increased. But almost half are committed by those previously convicted. Among those who break the law are the unemployed. Alexander Lukashenko instructed to pay special attention to them. A maximum of efforts to throw on the prevention of violence against women and children.
“Men, if we can’t protect our women, we’re worthless. You understand, we always go about relaxing like this, as the people say, because this does not concern either our wives or our daughters. God forbid, of course, but you sit down and imagine it. And when you imagine, proceed from this,” the President said.
The Belarusian leader demanded that the problem of violence be solved by the toughest methods. Just like in the fight against terrorism.
The Belarusian leader plans to visit all the final collegiums of law enforcement agencies at the end of the year.
