Tajikistan’s national power company, Barqi Tojik, and Afghanistan’s Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat have signed an agreement for electricity purchase in 2025. The deal was finalized by the CEOs of both companies, Abdul Bari Omar and Mahmadumar Asozoda. The agreement, valid from May to September, is renewed annually until 2028. It allows electricity exports to Afghanistan, provided there are no domestic market restrictions in Tajikistan. The details of the electricity volume and cost for 2025 have not been disclosed yet. The Republic of Kazakhstan government has agreed with China Nonferrous Metal Mining (NFC) to build a smelter projected to have an annual copper production capacity of 300,000 tonnes.
