The government of Mexico announced that it sold the plane of the president of the country to the government of Tajikistan. This type of aircraft is mainly for heads of state and rich people who buy private jets. It was acquired by the Mexican government in 2012.
Lopez Obrador, the President of the Republic of Mexico, announced on his Twitter page on April 21 that the “Boeing 787 Dreamliner” plane was sold for $92 million, although its original price is $218 million.
It is not known to which Tajik company the plane was sold, but the President of the Republic of Mexico said that the details will be announced next week.
According to him, the Tajik government has 10 days to take possession of this expensive aircraft, which costs a lot to repair and maintain. The authorities of Tajikistan have not yet explained this news.
Since 2020, the plane of the President of the Republic of Mexico has been “sleeping” in the hangar, the place where aircraft are stored, and during this time it was not easy to sell it.
In 2019, they tried to sell it for 130 million dollars, but did not find a buyer. Mexican authorities wanted to put the presidential plane even in the lottery.
Lopez Obrador expressed his “happiness” after the sale of the plane and added that the money will be used to build two hospitals in the poor states of Guerrero and Oaxaca in Mexico.
