President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reported that Mexico’s presidential plane has been sold. The official announcement was made Thursday.
In a video on his social networks, López Obrador announced that the buyer is the Government of Tajikistan. The plane was purchased through its state investment and property management committee.
The Government of Tajikistan deposited 1.6 billion pesos to the Government of Mexico into the account of the Institute to Return the Stolen to the People, reported López Obrador.
“The transaction is closed. We have already received the resources which are in the account of the Institute to Return the Stolen to the People. This sale will generate, in addition to the resources we receive, it will generate savings of 232 million pesos in interest that the federal government had to pay to Banobras (Banco Nacional de Obras y Servicios Públicos),” AMLO explained.
He said that the resources will be used for the country’s health sector, specifically for the construction of two IMSS hospitals. One will be built in Tlapa, Guerrero and Tuxtepec, Oaxaca, each with 80 beds, which will be built and operational before the end of his term in 2024.
