in the city of Cholpon-Ata of the Kyrgyz Republic, Emomali Rahmon took part in the Second Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the President of the European Union.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the state and prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the states of Central Asia and the European Union, as well as on the regional and international agendas.
The parties also exchanged views on strengthening regional security against the backdrop of modern challenges and threats, including the current situation in Afghanistan.
In his speech, Emomali Rahmon presented the position of the Republic of Tajikistan on six-way cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other fields. The need to intensify cooperation between the countries of the region and the European Union in the field of food security, agriculture, transport and logistics, hydropower, green energy and digitalization was emphasized.
The President also outlined the issue of climate change, in particular the melting of glaciers. The head of state expressed gratitude to the countries of Central Asia and the European Union, which supported the global initiatives of Tajikistan in the field of water and climate change.
As a result of the Second Meeting, a Joint Statement of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the President of the European Council was adopted.
