The high-ranking Russian diplomat said that 120,000 students in Tajikistan study Russian at school, and the rest learn this language as part of the educational program. Semyon Grigorev, the ambassador of Russia, expressed this point on October 6 at a conference on multilingual education in Tajikistan.
In particular, he said: “In Tajikistan, 60 schools teach entirely in Russian, and 178 schools have Russian classes. In total, they cover 120,000 students.” He said that 9,000 teachers teach in Russian in Tajik schools.
In Tajikistan, the Russian language has the status of the language of communication between nations.
Critics criticize the more active teaching of the Russian language in the Mushtaraq-ul-Manofe area, including Tajikistan, as a way to strengthen the propaganda of the Moscow government’s policy.
Some of the Russian schools of Tajikistan, which are subordinated only to the Russian Ministry of Education, are selective in accepting students, and the complaints of some parents in this regard have been published in the media.
