A group of traders from the market “Sakhovat” in Kulob objected to the decision of the market officials. They have been asked to vacate the outlet as soon as possible. Merchants say that the market is their only source of income and now where should they go and earn a living for themselves and their children.
“The chairman invited us. We left. His disciple came and said to find your places yourself. I went to the chairman twice with complaints. I am a single mother, I don’t have the means, where can I go, I can find a piece of plum bread from here,” said Bibisoro Davlatova, a trader at the “Sakhovat” market in Kulob.
In a collective letter, the sellers have complained to the government of Kulob to solve their problem. 40 people signed it.
Officials of the market call the claims of traders unfounded. The head of the market says that “only six traders will be removed”. He said while handing over the notification, no one will be expelled from the market.
“The prosecutor called me and told me to go and give a report. They are not signing,” said Akbar Alimov, head of the “Sakhovat” market in Kulob.
Traders say that they don’t know where to go anymore after being deprived of a point of sale. Including Anvarbi Nasimova, who earns her living by selling snacks and salads.
He said: “They say, support small and medium entrepreneurs. I have been sitting in the market for 30 years. Our bread is from here. Today they say to vacate the place.”
It is not the first time that traders in Kulob have protested against the decision of the market leaders. In May of this year, following the same decision, traders of “Lola” market also protested.
