The Maschoh district court has deprived a woman of her citizenship and imposed a large fine on her for falsifying documents.
Shohidamo Akhmadova, who was a citizen of Uzbekistan in the past, got a passport after marrying a native of Tajikistan. Now this passport has questioned his life and marriage.
After 12 years of marriage and living in Tajikistan, the local authorities in Mastchoh district during an investigation found out that the documents of this woman are fake and were obtained illegally. The woman’s family considers the court’s verdict unfair, saying that this was done on purpose.
Shohidamo Akhmadova is a native of the Tajik-populated Buka district of the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan. In 2009, she started a family with Sultonbek Hakimov in the Mascho district of Tajikistan. In the same year, with the help of his relatives, he got a Tajik passport from the regional authorities. However, two years ago, following a dispute, one of her relatives informed the regional inspector that Akhmadova’s documents were fake. This allegation will lead to his passport being confiscated.
Shahidamo Akhmadova, a resident of Maschoh: “My mother fell ill and I went to the authorities and told them that my mother is sick, give me a document, go and cover her hand at least once until she dies, no one listened to my words. My mother died, I could not go. I again demanded that you give me my passport and go to his grave so that my heart cools down. I cry every night, no one listened to my cry.”
Shahidamo has a family and three children. As required by law and age, he changed his Tajik passport three times and received a foreign passport based on the Tajik passport. Through this passport, he worked as a librarian in a school and became the owner of agricultural land. Birth certificates were issued to his three children on the basis of this passport. The act, which until today was recognized everywhere and she lived with it, has now caused a lot of headaches for this woman.
“I have no documents. I also washed at home. They took my land, kicked me out of my job at school. I am left with my three children, I cannot go anywhere. I had to come to you. I have no other choice”, said this resident of Maschoh.
This woman was fined 23 thousand 360 somoni for the crime of “forgery” and her documents were confiscated by the Magistrate of Maschoh district in February this year. The witness wonders why he is the only one sitting in the dock and the passport officials were not prosecuted. He says he only brought the application documents and was unaware that it was illegal.
Shohidamo Akhmadova said: “I said that someone gave me a passport, you should find it, you are the court, and you can find out what year, who signed it, who worked in the passport department of Maschohi Kuhi at that time. He wanted me to become something. He may deceive poor people again. They say that you are the one to blame, he cheated and said that he gave.”
Sultanbek Hakimov, the husband of Shohidamo Akhmadova, says that his wife’s case was “superficially examined from beginning to end “.
Now the family is left wondering what to do. They cannot pay the fine for eight months. Because about two hectares of agricultural land owned by Shahidamo Ahmadova was returned to its previous owner by the authorities and they were deprived of their income.
Sultanbek Hakimov, husband of Shohidamo Akhmadova: “We have three children. If my wife goes to Uzbekistan, she will not be registered in Uzbekistan. If they don’t restore my wife’s passport, our family will be destroyed.”
Illegal possession of passports by citizens of other countries is not a new issue in Tajikistan. Basically, the authorities have arrested and punished several natives of Afghanistan for this crime. At the same time, the lawyers say that the officials of the passport issuing authorities should be punished, because in most cases they mislead the unemployed in exchange for money.
