Alexander Lukashenko, at a meeting with the foreign ministers of the CSTO countries, called on the organization to make efforts to solve the problems of Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. According to him, this must be done on its own, until these problems are solved by the West.
Recall that the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan continues. Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have border disputes, their border is not demarcated, which leads to clashes.
“I will say that there are problems. And very serious problems. If we do not solve these problems, we will always reproach each other, express dissatisfaction with the functioning of the organization as a whole. Problems exist to be solved. Therefore, no matter how we twist or turn, we must be immersed in the problems that are being solved today by CSTO member Armenia and CSTO members Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan ,” Lukashenka said, his press service reports.
He noted that the resolution of problems was delayed due to the need to apply decisions unanimously.
“There are problems, there are tasks, they must be solved, no matter how difficult and complex they may be. And sometimes we succeed … Based on the fact that decisions are made by consensus, and sometimes, due to the complexity of problems, we bypass them, we do not want to solve them , ”he added.
Lukashenka believes that foreign ministers should make more efforts.
“Why am I talking about this at our meeting? Not a single decision is made in our organizations (neither in the EAEU, nor even in the CSTO) without you. This is your bread and butter – to study the problem in depth, involve the necessary services in this (in the examples I mentioned, these are the military and special services), work out the issue and make proposals for a solution at the level of heads of state. This is the main thing. And from year to year I see this main problem in the functioning of the CSTO ,” he said.
He emphasized that the questions are simply “shouting”, not just standing. Meanwhile, the West can get involved in solving problems, and then the CSTO will be difficult.
“It is necessary to resolve issues that are no longer just standing in certain states, but which are already crying out. Without you, no one will begin to solve these issues. This is your colossal role, from my point of view. Let’s put these problems on the agenda and solve them. If we help resolve the conflict on the border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, we will begin to resolve this issue, they will be grateful to us. People will stop dying, and these states will always be grateful to us ,” Lukashenka said.
“The danger is that if our “friends-advisers” from the West get in there (and you see: they get in there, as people say, “for food”), it will be difficult for us to solve these problems. These important issues are reflected in the CSTO documents for the period of Belarus’ chairmanship in the organization, and all the tasks outlined must be addressed ,” he added.
He stressed that the CSTO countries must stick together, despite Russia’s problems.
“There is no need to rush, make things worse for each other and try to somehow get away from each other. We need to stick together, especially during this difficult time. And the point here is not that the main core of our organization – Russia – is in a difficult situation. Russia is a part, it is an element of everything that is happening in the world ,” he said.
