The national team of Tajikistan at the II Games of the CIS countries, which are held from August 4 to 14 in Belarus, with one silver and 5 bronze medals, takes 10th place among 22 states participating in these competitions.

On the sixth day of the competition – August 9 – Tajik athletes won 2 bronze medals in freestyle wrestling and one bronze medal in a boxing tournament.

In freestyle wrestling in the weight category up to 70 kg Mustafo Akhmedov and in the weight category up to 79 kg Somonjon Ikromov took third places. In boxing, the third place in the weight category up to 57 kg was taken by the Tajik athlete Khangoma Isoeva.

Earlier, Loik Kutbiddinov, who competed in judo among teenagers in the weight category up to 55 kg, brought a silver medal to the national team of Tajikistan. Madina Kurbonzoda in the weight category up to 48 kg brought the national team a bronze medal in the judo competition among girls. Another bronze medal was won by Aslamjon Azizov in the weight category up to 60 kg in Greco-Roman wrestling competitions among teenagers.

The national team of Tajikistan at the Commonwealth Games is represented by 130 athletes in 13 sports. According to experts, Tajik athletes still have a chance to win medals in the SAMBO tournament.

The Russian national team, which won 153 medals in six days of competition – 77 gold, 50 silver and 26 bronze – taking into account the number of medals, including gold, confidently takes first place in the team standings.

The Belarusian national team has 122 medals – 27 gold, 24 silver and 64 bronze – and takes second place in the team standings. In third place is the national team of Uzbekistan, with 48 medals – 9 gold, 13 silver and 26 bronze.

Then comes the national team of Azerbaijan ((7+9+17), Armenia (1+1+4), Kazakhstan (0+6+12), Turkmenistan (0+3+6), Vietnam (0+2+1) and Kyrgyzstan (0 + 1 + 8), which are also included, together with the national team of Tajikistan, in the top ten teams at the II Games of the CIS countries.

At these games, the program of which provides for competitions in 20 sports, in addition to the CIS countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan), representatives of Bahrain, Cuba, Kuwait, Venezuela, Vietnam, Malaysia , Egypt, Lebanon, UAE, Mongolia, Pakistan, Oman and Iran.

Competitions are held in ten cities of Belarus – Minsk, Borisov, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, Zhlobin, Mogilev, Molodechno, Orsha and Soligorsk.

Recall that the first Games of the Commonwealth of Independent States in September 2021 in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan, were attended by 1,100 athletes from 9 CIS countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

Then Tajikistan was represented by 51 athletes in 11 sports, who won 14 medals – 7 silver and 7 bronze.

The first place in the team standings was then won by Russian athletes who won 212 medals, including 111 gold.

Uzbekistan with 90 medals, including 23 gold, took the second place at the first Games, Kazakhstan took the third place with 107 medals, including 18 gold. Tajikistan took seventh place at these games, ahead of the teams of Armenia and Moldova.
